1st class post on governance lessons from BP situation

I just read an excellent piece on Bloomberg BusinessWeek. It discusses the board’s responsibility related to oversight of corporate compliance, culture, and the performance of executives.

What do you think are the lessons we should all draw, whether board members, corporate counsel, internal auditors, or executives?

I would think that the BOD may have seen this:

Not sure if they received any feedback from leadership on the nature of compliance with policy, exceptions, remediation and discipline.
